Your baby might not have teeth yet, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to think about the sugar they’re consuming.

Habits can start very early in life and babies tend to prefer the foods they get used to. Too much sugar risks damaging emerging teeth, becoming overweight and even getting type 2 diabetes. Lots of snacks aimed at babies and children contain sugar but you often won’t find ‘sugar’ listed on food packaging. There are plenty of other words to look out for including glucose, maltose, fructose, molasses, fruit juice concentrate and more.
